The magnificent National Shrine to Our Lady of Częstochowa in Doylestown, PA was built almost 50 years ago to celebrate the millennial anniversary of Christianity in Poland. Learn more about it and why we are making our pilgrimage to National Shrine to Our Lady of Częstochowa on April 2nd-3rd here.

Święconka Celebration
It was obvious that area residents are thrilled at the arrival of spring based on the enthusiastic attendance at last Sunday’s Święconka at St. Joseph the Provider Church Lawrence Kozlowski lead craft demonstrations and workshops throughout the day and the dancers were thrilled with how many people were there for their show. Paska orders
If you enjoyed our pączki, than you know we only recommend good stuff. Then take our advice and order some delicious homemade paska from the ladies at St. Joseph the Provider. They are offering plain and with raisins. Orders are only being taken until April 3rd for pickup on Palm Sunday between 9:30-1:30 PM. Learn more about it here.

Speaking of signs of spring, make sure to take a look at our church flower beds. Last fall, the children of Krakowiaki spent their Columbus Day off from school planting and that dirty work is paying off. The planted bulbs were part of a generous donation from Fellows Riverside Gardens. If you missed a chance to plant then, the Krakowiaki can help you now! Check it out here.


Celebrate Spring
They were celebrating spring in Cleveland last weekend, too. More than 120 members of all the Polish schools and folk groups of greater Cleveland came together in Slavic Village for Wiosenne Tradycje, a FREE concert highlight the ancient traditions that celebrate the arrival of Spring including drowning the Marzanna and Śmigus-Dyngus. Congratulations to The Kosciuszko Foundation and President Alex Storozynski on achieving the goal of having America’s newspaper of record, The New York Times, modify its stylebook to avoid misleading phrases like "Polish concentration camp." Dancing on the Silver Screen!
We spoke last week about the Polish film Venice being featured next week at the Cleveland International Film Festival sponsored by The Polish-American Cultural Center. Turns out there is another that may be local interest, especially to fans of friends at Kuzmann’s. Check out Polka the Movie!

A different Polish music
If you want to get a taste of modern music, listen to what Ken Shirilla puts together for Polish Happy Hour. If you want to see it live, take a drive to Cleveland for Kombii on March 30th. Check out their music video as our new feature!

If you are observing meatless Fridays, support your local Polish churches-not the freezer case-and enjoying tasty pierogi. It will certainly make it less of a sacrifice.
