We are sure enjoying the holidays! The Krakowiaki Polish Folk Circle spent Friday evening caroling at the Greenbrier senior complex. It was so fulfilling to have the residents obviously appreciative of our efforts. A highlight were the young girls enthusiasm for showing their talents by singing not just in Polish but German, Spanish, Hebrew, Croatian and American Sign Language. their The group then headed to the concourse of the Southern Park Mall to perform one more time before retiring to Jillians for their Christmas party and to congratulate themselves on their busiest performance year ever. Special thanks to Ted Szmaj and Tom Katrenich for their efforts to orchestrate the performances. To see more pictures, click HERE. To see the video, click HERE.

On Sunday, the Polish Arts Club hosted their annual Wigilia Christmas Eve Dinner at the Youngstown Club. A crowd of more than 150 members and the general public enjoyed a lovely affair with more ambiance and food than anyone could handle! One of the highlights was the sample Wigilia table set in Polish pottery and all the traditional items to make it special. As a holiday treat, each guest received a three-month trial membership to the exclusive club. Chef Rob Vossler and Event Chair Angela Messenger certainly outdid themselves on our behalf! The Polish have a rich history with many of it traditions tied into the Catholic faith. Sharing oplatek at Wigilia dinner on Christmas Eve followed by the singing of koledy and attending pasterka at midnight are just of a few of those traditions. In case you may want to celebrate at a local parish, for your convenience, we have assembled the schedules for the parishes involved with PolishYoungstown.
