The city brought back the Holiday Parade to Downtown Youngstown last Saturday and we were excited to be a part of it!  Thanks to all of you for your willingness to make time last minute to jump into the Christmas spirit and participate. As with our participation in the Canfield 4th of July parade, it is chaos and fun wrapped into one! People seemed to be starting to recognize who we are and enjoy playfully teasing us about pierogi, vodka, polkas and kielbasa under our Christmas trees! More pictures of the fun are HERE!

Special thanks go out to Tom Kusiowski Sr. for all of his hard work of putting together a very workable ride that was innovative, made beautiful music and was a proud presentation for our group. Just think what he could do with some notice...here it is: May 2nd Polish Constitution Parade Cleveland! We seriously need to create a pierogi mascot for such occasions…anyone who can sew out there? Let us know!  I am sure we can do something like THIS.

The holiday celebrations continue this week. Polish Happy Hour will be a warm, friendly event at Café Cimmento on Dec. 10th.  In addition to our normal fun and laughter, we will add some unique Wigilia-inspired delicacies as have available suggested Wigilia menus you can use at home. Tom’s lovely szopka will be on display and there will be a discussion and sharing of oplatek with our friends in honor of the holiday. St. Joseph the Provider will even have some blessed packets on hand for you to buy to use at home! Okocim’s winter beer will be featured as well as a tasty peppermint Luksusowa cocktail and a spiced Belvedere martini! And remember, our new red PHH t-shirts would make great gifts for all the Polish people on your holiday gift list and they will be available for sale that night too. Plan to join us!

There is still time to make your reservations to share opłatek and sing Koledy at the Polish Arts Club annual Wigilia Christmas Eve Dinner on Sunday, December 20 at The Youngstown Club. This lovely event is being held for the first time at this elegant location and it’s destined to be a great afternoon. More information is available HERE.

Another chance to join add a little Polish to your holidays and lift the spirits of others comes on Dec. 18th . On Friday night, the Krakowiaki become kolendnicy when they host a round of Christmas caroling at a couple of area nursing homes. We will gather at 5:30 near the Jillian’s entrance to the mall then head out. We return and do a final round of songs in the mall’s Grand Concourse at 7 PM. Afterward we all will retire to Jillian’s to celebrate the season and a successful performance year. Want to join us? Let us know to wait for you and or hold at seat a Jillian’s by emailing info@polishyoungstown.com.
